The leaf die in this set contains a small area which embosses/debosses the design. Please see the purple part of the image below, as that is the part which impresses the design, rather than cuts.

Cutting dies are for using with your die-cutting machine. Sizzix dies are flat, thin, carbon steel dies which work with most major die-cutting machines.
